MY STORY

Attempting to capture the beauty of Tamil in English

A passion to share the novel that captivated the very core of my imagination.

Wanting to share this incredible experience with the whole wide world.

Maybe they too will share, enjoy and explore.

Excerpts from Epilogue written by Kalki after the last chapter was published in 1954.

“When …  first published we did not think that it would cause such an excitement among fans.

The old historical Tamil names …. seemed to cause a huge headache for our readers.
As time went by, readers managed to overcome that headache somehow.

“People wrote often, commenting critiques …. mostly happy, appreciative.

“The compliments … I do not assume them to be primarily for the author …
they are for the ancient Tamil people. This old history is something of pride for all Tamil people.

A bit of back-story

Indra Neelameggham is the first  person to have translated this magnum opus into English, in the 1990s albeit only 50% of the whole novel was completed at that time.  As early as 1997 the chapters were published on the internet, in sequel-novel (thodarkadai) format, arranged by "Biga" Ganesh.
